International Medical School Graduates
We will need your ECFMG certificate by January 2018 and proof of U.S. Citizenship or Green Card at the time of application. We are not able to sponsor:
- J-1 Visas
- H-1B Visas
You must have graduated from medical school within the last five years.
Your medical school must be one recognized by the Idaho State Board of Medicine so that you can be licensed in Idaho. Please refer to the link below, and click on the "Rules for Licensure to Practice Medicine and Surgery and Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Idaho" (see Administrative Code IDAPA 22.01.01, section 051).
We require at least six months clinical experience in the United States or a western medical system. However, please be sure to include any and all of your clinical or research experience in your application even though it might have been outside the United States.
Letters of recommendation are important, but do have to come from a doctor in the U.S.
Unfortunately, for those interested in an externship or observership, current Veteran’s Affairs (VA) policy precludes us from being able to offer any externships or observerships to anyone who is not currently enrolled in a program directly affiliated with the VA.
Our program director and selection committee will consider your entire application, regardless of where you attended medical school.
