There are two continuity clinic sites at UW Boise: the Silver Team Clinic at the Boise VA and Terry Reilly Health Services in Boise.
The Silver Team Clinic has focused on residency training for over 30 years. The Silver Team Clinic at the Boise VA was recently selected as one of five nationwide VA Centers of Excellence for Primary Care education and received a $5M grant over five years to enhance interdisciplinary training in a "medical home" model (read more at www.va.gov/oaa/rfp_coe.asp ). While offering some recognition for our past achievements, this status also allows trainees the opportunity to practice in a learning environment that emphasizes the principles of the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH). Using the VA version of PCMH known as “Patient Aligned Care Teams,” residents practice in a clinic alongside pharmacy, psychology, nursing and nurse practitioner trainees, as well as supervising attending physicians and staff. Working as part of a “teamlet” that includes one registered nurse manager, one medical assistant (or licensed practicing nurse), and one administrative assistant, residents are able to learn team-based care in an ambulatory setting.
Terry Reilly Health Services is a federally qualified health center that is dedicated to providing affordable, comprehensive health care to everyone in the Treasure Valley Community. In addition to a robust clinical panel, residents at Terry Reilly learn about socio-economic determinants of health, federally qualified health systems, and the treatment of drug abuse. In 2017, Terry Reilly was selected as a winner of one of Qualis Health's Idaho Awards of Excellence.
All supervising attendings have training in internal medicine; some have further specialization and training in Women’s Health, Geriatrics, Psychiatry, Rheumatology, Substance Abuse, Medical Education and Health Services.
Our goal is to promote true team-based care, in which all members of the team function together to provide excellent care, continuity, and coverage even when the resident is away from the clinic on the wards or electives.
